Experiment 6:26pm - Year One
"... it is the flawed product of a deranged mind." - Grand Councilwoman, Lilo & Stitch
I have long been a fan of Aaron Wessling's #fourfiftyeightpm project and I kept telling myself that it’s low-friction enough to maintain (I have that very bad ADHD tendency of starting projects and letting them fall by the wayside). Just set an alarm and take a picture of whatever’s in front of you right at that moment. Bing bang boom.
The only “rules” I gave myself were as follows: always use the phone’s camera, no make-up pictures to substitute, and they all had to be edited with the same settings to maintain consistency. I tried sticking to always using flash, but it wasn’t something I remembered very often.
I wanted a time that would hopefully catch me outside (how bout that?!) the house since working from home means I am literally always… home.
Thus: 6:26pm! Stitch has been a family favorite character for what seems like forever. It felt right. So I set a daily, reoccurring alarm for 6:26pm, closed my eyes, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best.
I started on June 1st, 2024 and just completed my first full year of almost taking a picture every single day at the exact same time. Some interesting data emerged from the photos, too…
70 pictures have my wife in them.
15 pictures are of the TV or have it on in the background.
80 pictures are of me making dinner, or eating/drinking, or of someone else eating/drinking.
117 pictures were taken while I was not at home.
17 were at Disneyland
2 were at Six Flags Magic Mountain
1 was at Universal Studios Hollywood
26 pictures were taken while I was in a car.
10 pictures were taken while I was in the restroom.
26 days were missed due to being away from the phone, inability to use the phone (think movie theater), or some other reason. I want to decrease that number this year!
Fun stuff!
Below are some selections from throughout the year including the first and last pictures of the series!

See ya next year for the next installment!
